Trail to Troop

Posted on Oct 20 2025 - 10:11pm

This last weekend, Trail to Troop took place! Despite the fire ban, scouts still managed to have a blast! Elijah, Michael and Graham guided scouts through 10 stations, each by a specific troop. The activities ranged from teaching scout skills like lashings and tent set ups, to more active stations such as slingshots, canoeing and tetherball. Furthermore, for breakfast and dinner, scouts walked the cub scouts through the process of cooking, involving the propane tanks, etc. Most notable of the activities was monkey bridge, shown above, where cub scouts had to traverse an obstacle of ropes. Overall, the camp was enjoyable due to the good weather and various activities to participate in.

ILST

Posted on Oct 20 2025 - 9:56pm

The ILST training for this term was quite unique. The responsibility of overseeing the training was with the scouts, namely Graham, Conner and Ben, rather than with the adults as it usually is. The benefit for this, aside from more scout-based leadership, was that ILST felt much less of a chore/responsibility since adults did not oversee them. They subjected the scouts through three different modules/trainings to build and solidify their leadership skills, keeping them focused with pizza and donuts. This change represents the bright future for the troop and this term, as scouts will become more adequate at the leadership skills that make Boy Scouts unique.

Inks Lake and Mr. Holwerda's Birthday

Posted on Sep 29 2025 - 9:00pm

Three weekends ago, the troop went on a campout to Inks Lake State Park, from September 12 - 14. The camp was a blast, as the troop spent time in the outdoors, completed various requirements, attending flag ceremony, and most importantly celebrated Mr. Holwerda's Birthday. The two events happened to coincide on this day, and the fact Mr. Holwerda was willing to spent this special day with us, at camp, speaks volumes to his dedication to the troop. So (late) Happy Birthday, Mr. Holwerda. We wish you the best going forward.

2025 - Camp Emerald Bay

Posted on Aug 16 2025 - 5:30pm

In total, our scouts at Emerald Bay managed to completed a resounding 66 merit badges along with 15 partials! This summer was particularly unique, as Emerald Bay lays far from Texas. Nevertheless, our scouts had a blast at this new and exciting location. Especially with the various activities such as kayaking, scuba diving, campfire, and enjoying the absolutely stunning scenery. If you press ' read more ' you can see some photos of our scouts at summer camp.
